THE JOURNEY BEGINS

In this online course, I will take you on a fascinating journey into your very own music.

 With 7 packed lessons and 49 videos, you can expect creative impulses, helpful techniques and lots of practical exercises in which I will guide you step by step into your own individual playing.

The practice sessions are structured in such a way that you can play along with your handpan at the same time.
 So we start together with the videos, you will receive all the important information about the respective practices or ideas for playing and can then continue to play independently and turn to your music and whatever may be created from that.
 

LEARN WHEN AND WHERE YOU WANT

The course allows you to learn from the comfort of your own home and at your own pace.

 All you need is a handpan, the desire and joy to progress and the desire to find your way into intuitive music-making based on clear guidelines. And, of course, a stable internet connection.
 You will have lifetime access to the course. This means you don't have to store all the information in your head but you can also recall the information if you have forgotten it or come back to it after having taken a break.

LEARNING IN A PLAYFUL AND RELAXED WAY

Based on my book "Handpan learning by playing", I will give you examples of rhythms, ideas and impulses for playing that will make it much easier for you to start playing.

I will show you how to elicit the first notes from your handpan, guide you into a regular pulsation and support you with valuable know-how to create your own first piece.

WITHOUT NOTES

This method works completely without sheet music examples or complicated handsets or other notations, but only through my language, images and by playing the exercises and playing impulses for you, describing them and practicing them with you.

 

And I do this at a slow, comprehensible tempo and with repetitions so that you can play along and understand well. I have filmed with several cameras so that you can alternately see me from the front or the handpan from above (from the player's point of view) so that you can easily follow my suggestions and join in.

REALISTIC IMPLEMENTATION

The videos in this online course are very different from those in the book.

 

We are in constant dialog and I will meet you where you are and guide you to where you want to go. Once you have completed the path from the basic groove to your own piece step by step with me, you will also learn a very effective way of making music intuitively, which you will remember as a general way of practicing even when you have finished the course. Once you have understood and internalized it, you will be able to continue with the more complex exercises in my book well after you have completed the online course, or you will have the opportunity to continue with the follow-up course UNTERWEGS (will be available in english at a later date). I recommend that you also have the book handy during the course.

STEP BY STEP TOWARDS THE FIRST PIECE

Over the course of 49 videos, I will show you various aspects of learning:

MODULE 1

Getting to know the tone fields and striking the notes with relaxed movements

MODULE 2

Finding a regular pulsation on Dung and Deng

MODULE 3

Integrating tone fields into the pulsation, creating the first melodies

MODULE 4

Structuring the pulsation and setting accents
Getting to know and playing the two most important time signatures in music

MODULE 5

The basic groove. Playing different rhythms and implementing them on the whole handpan

MODULE 6

Finding melodies, discovering phrase lengths, using fills and breaks

MODULE 7

Insights into the structure of a composition

 Creating your first piece

The course is set up in an LMS structure (Learning Management System), so that you

 - are directed straight to the next video,
 - mark the videos you have watched as " completed", but you can still
 - have access to all videos at any time, so you can jump back and forth.
